Mimic
“Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.”
~Ephesians 5:1-2 (NIV)
Just BE: It’s too easy to go and go about our day and forget to just BE! What I mean by that is don’t let the world define who you are, don’t get lost in all the things you think you should be, or the things that you want to be. God has already let you know what His desires are for you. When you follow His Word, you can never go wrong.
Mimic: The passage above asks us to “Be imitators of God…” The Greek word for imitators is “mimetai” from which we get the English word mimic. A mimic doesn’t follow the general patterns of a person or in this case God, they follow the specific characteristics. How can you mimic the characteristics of God today?
Love: Many times in the Word of God everything boils down to this one word. Our lives as Christians our founded on the action of love, so it makes sense that we are to “…live a life of love…” It’s not about saying you love someone, it’s about living that love out every single day. For instance, love lived out is forgiveness, it’s compassion, it’s turning the other cheek, it’s being gentle and kind to others. How will you live a life of love today? Is there someone you need to forgive? Is there someone you can show compassion to? Maybe you will need to turn the cheek today. Never miss an opportunity to be kind or gentle!
Prayer: Dear Father God, I pray that I will mimic the characteristics I see in Your Word. Also, I pray You will help me be more loving in every possible way. May I live a life of love for You. Help me to see the opportunities I am given to live out love in this day that I am given!
